Nodules, high hepatitis B viral load tied to liver cancer risk

Data presented at the International Liver Cancer Association Annual Conference revealed patients with hepatitis B-induced dysplastic nodules and high viral loads were at an increased risk of developing hepatocellular carcinoma. Researchers said the findings suggest that "[m]aintenance of an inactive carrier state might be essential to reduce the risk of progression into HCC in HBV-associated DNs."
