Study: Nurses find dementia is an obstacle to addressing pain

Nurses at long-term care facilities said pain management was a challenge in patients with dementia, delirium and other medical conditions, as well as for those who were stoic and wanted to hide their pain, researchers from Ireland reported in the journal Nursing Older People. Pain assessment tools and encouragement for patients to express how they are feeling can help, researchers said.
