Toxic toads pose threat to pets

The Colorado River toad secretes a toxic substance that causes seizures, incoordination, hallucinations and sometimes death in dogs that are exposed to the solution. Immediately flushing the dog's mouth with copious amounts of water and seeking immediate treatment at a veterinarian's office are necessary steps. Additionally, a photo of the offending toad, or the toad itself -- collected without touching it -- will help guide treatment.
