Verizon isn't on board with tech vendors that "grandstand" about their opposition to data sharing with intelligence agencies, says executive John Stratton, who argues that the balance between civil liberties and national security is a decision to be made by society, not companies. Meanwhile, the U.S. court that oversees federal data collection has issued a defense of its role. Separately, LinkedIn says it has requested federal approval to release more information about government data requests.
