Science group battles Georgia county's anti-evolution proposal

The National Academy of Sciences yesterday urged scientists and physicians to ask Cobb County, Ga., school board members to remove disclaimers in science texts that say evolution is a theory. The board is scheduled to vote Sept. 26 on whether to adopt a policy that would allow teachers to discuss alternative theories to evolution.
