Surgeons increasingly are warning that "minimally invasive" hip replacement surgeries are being oversold to the public. Television ads are pitching the surgeries with the promise of helping patients recover quickly and with less pain, but some surgeons have gone so far as to abandon the operation as reports of complications such as dislocated hips emerge.
