Democrats exclude Medicare provisions from child health bill

House Democrats agreed to leave Medicare-related provisions out of a children's health bill amid pressure to send the proposal to the White House before the federal children's health program expires Sept. 30. The provisions include a payment increase for physicians and payment reductions for Medicare Advantage insurers, which Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., says he intends to reconsider later this year.
