Nationwide to release captive agents in Florida

Nationwide has announced it will no longer have exclusive agents in Florida. Its Florida agents will have independent status, allowing them to sell insurance products for multiple firms. A Nationwide spokesman said the change springs from the company's ongoing goal to reduce its exposure in a hurricane-prone state. The company hasn't written new policies in Florida since 2005.
