Delta, Northwest flight attendants to start seniority negotiations

While awaiting an Oct. 25 shareholder vote on the proposed merger with Northwest Airlines, officials at Delta Air Lines already are working to ease the integration of the two companies' flight attendant staffs. Delta is forming a committee that will hammer out seniority lists during two months of meetings with a similar committee at Northwest. Pilots at both companies have agreed to binding arbitration on seniority, and ground crews will be integrated by committees and "employee involvement groups" starting later in the fall. Delta says no employees' pay will be cut, and some could see raises.
