Most U.S. airlines plan to keep fuel-related fees

Although prices of crude oil have dropped significantly in recent weeks, carriers are not reducing their fuel surcharges or forgoing other fees tacked on to deal with fuel prices. "The run-up in our cost related to our fuel prices continues to exceed the surcharge levels in place," says a Northwest Airlines spokeswoman.
