Task force issues guidance for in vitro diagnostic device classification

The Global Harmonization Task Force's Study Group 1 has published its final guidance for classifying in vitro diagnostic medical devices. A four-tiered, risk-based system should be specifically designed for categorizing such products, according to the guidance.
