Teacher: iPods bring peace to classroom

When ninth-grade English teacher Jennifer McDaniel began a Friday ritual of letting students listen to music on their iPods while doing independent classwork, they focused on their assignments and didn't distract one another, she says. But upon learning that iPods are against her school's policy, she returned to a management style and rewards system that she suggests hasn't achieved the same level of classroom tranquility and focus that characterized those "iPod Fridays."
