Crews make quick work of adding HOV lanes to Arizona freeway

Construction crews from Kiewit Corp. and Sundt Construction hope to complete 30 miles of high occupancy lanes on a Phoenix-area freeway by October, only eight months after the design-build project began. Two crews comprising 225 workers were on site during the project's peak and placed 220,000 cubic yards of concrete pavement. "If both crews are up and running, we can pave a mile a night," said Allen Mills, Kiewit project manager.
