AT&T's Stephenson sees LTE as possible rural fixed-line solution

AT&T may turn to Long-Term Evolution technology as an alternative to the complex process of selling its rural fixed-line business, CEO Randall Stephenson suggested Wednesday. He told an investor conference that the carrier might seek an internal solution. "LTE can become a fixed-line replacement or even better than what you get from fixed line," he said. The carrier will reveal its rural fixed-line plans Nov. 7.
