Chicago's teachers end 7-day strike, classes resume today

The Chicago Teachers Union voted Tuesday to suspend the strike that began more than one week ago, and classes resumed today. Karen Lewis, union president, said she expects union membership to vote on the terms of their new contract in the next few weeks. The deal that was reached between the union and the school system is being described as a compromise, with instructional days being lengthened and the pay structure for teachers being altered.
