Polyurethanes Industry sees mixed prospects for late 2012 and 2013

The polyurethanes industry faces mixed expectations for the rest of 2012 as some sectors are optimistic while others are facing weaker demands and consolidations, says Lee Salamone, director of the Center for the Polyurethanes Industry, a part of the American Chemistry Council's Plastics Division. "Uncertainty is a primary challenge that the industry faces in 2013. There is uncertainty surrounding the economic recovery, pending legislative reforms to chemicals management, and the fate of expiring tax cuts in the U.S.," Salamone says.
