Russia to expel USAID after 2 decades

Russia has ordered the U.S. Agency for International Development to end by Oct. 1 its operations in the country, which amount to about $50 million annually for various nongovernmental organizations. "While USAID's physical presence in Russia will come to an end, we remain committed to supporting democracy, human rights and the development of a more robust civil society in Russia," said Victoria Nuland, spokeswoman for the U.S. State Department.
