Pew survey reveals steady gains for most phone functions

About 4 in 5 cellphone owners send text messages on their devices, 3 in 5 access the Internet and more than half send or receive e-mail, according to a Pew survey that also revealed sharp increases in these and other phone functions over the past few years. The one exception is checking in and location sharing, with only about 8% of phone users bothering with this option.
