Pinterest hints at ad business with test of promoted pins

Pinterest will start testing promoted pins that will show up in search results and category feeds, but the social site will not charge any of the testers, Pinterest CEO Ben Silbermann announced in a blog post Thursday. Silbermann emphasized that the promoted pins will be "tasteful" and nondisruptive to the user experience. "I know some of you may be thinking, 'Oh great ... here come the banner ads.' But we're determined to not let that happen," Silbermann wrote in the post.
