Study evaluates tools for assessing atrial fibrillation bleeding risk

The HAS-BLED bleeding risk score may be superior to two other scores in predicting major bleeding in patients with atrial fibrillation who have been treated with anticoagulants, according to a study in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. However, researchers stressed that HAS-BLED was not meant to forecast thromboembolitic events, and they noted that providers should use the CHADS2 and CHA2DS2-VASc scores for that.
