ERate officials to cut breaks to schools hit by Katrina

The FCC's proposed funding package to rebuild damaged communications networks in the wake of Hurricane Katrina includes $132 million to help storm-battered schools and libraries restore their Internet connections. The FCC will give those schools and libraries top eRate priority in the 2006 funding year and allow others serving displaced students and patrons to amend their 2005 eRate applications.
