Nielsen: Total ad spending down slightly

Declines in the spot and network TV categories contributed to a 0.5% drop in U.S. ad sales for the first half of 2007 vs. the same period last year, according to data from Nielsen Monitor-Plus. Meanwhile, the Web posted a 23.6% sales hike, and national magazines, Sunday supplements and outdoor all showed increases.
