Australia likely will boost rates if its growth forecast is realized

Minutes of the Reserve Bank of Australia's meeting Sept. 7 show that policymakers are ready to increase interest rates if its forecast for continuing growth is realized. "[M]embers considered that if the central scenario came to pass it was likely that higher interest rates would be required, at some point," according to the minutes. However, policymakers remain "alert" to other matters, including global economic concern.
