IPhone app seeks to improve drug safety surveillance

An application from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Children's Hospital Boston, called MedWatcher, is designed to enable patients and doctors to use their iPhones to monitor FDA updates on medication safety. The application also aims to streamline adverse events reporting "for clinicians who have had to interrupt their work flow to submit information, and for patients who are unsure of the process," said one of the researchers who co-developed the technology.
