Philippines teachers angered by no-weekend-homework mandate

Teachers in the Philippines are critical of an education-department directive ordering them not to give students homework on Fridays. The ban is meant to give children more time for rest and relaxation over the weekend. Teachers' Dignity Coalition President Benjo Basas said the mandate obstructs teachers' efforts to properly teach.
