United-Continental merger will create the world's biggest airline

The process of combining passenger service at United and Continental airlines is expected to begin early next year after shareholders approved the companies' merger Friday. The resulting company will be the biggest airline in the world. The all-stock merger, valued at $3.22 billion, is scheduled to close no later than Oct. 1.
