Improve the chances that your resume won't be automatically rejected by making sure, for example, it's targeted to the job and includes a cover letter describing why you'd be a good fit, experts say. "The more you have to make the recruiter or hiring manager work to figure out what you bring to the table, the less the recruiter will work. He or she will bypass your resume for someone who has made the effort," says Thomas DeLay, a professional resume writer.
