N.C. district gives public-school students more options

In Wake County, N.C., public-school students will have more choices under a plan approved by the school board Tuesday to offer single-gender leadership academies, a science academy, a vocational high school and a K-8 school. Officials said the options should appeal to an increasingly diverse student population and give students and their families more choices in education.
