NIH findings prompt a new look at long-term weight loss

NIH researchers have debunked the long-held belief that cutting 3,500 calories will result in a pound of weight loss, and they suggest a two-step approach to losing weight that includes aggressive behavior changes and then a more relaxed but permanent change to make sure lost pounds are not regained. The researchers also say physical activity is important in weight loss and weight maintenance.
