Thailand noodle tour turns Chipotle founder on to Asian concept

Chipotle founder and CEO Steve Ells says he spent two weeks noshing on noodle soups and curries at family-owned eateries in Thailand and Singapore last year. The trip sparked the idea for his new restaurant, ShopHouse Southeast Asian Kitchen, which opened in Washington, D.C., last week. "I was very inspired by Southeast Asian food and the fact that it would lend itself to the Chipotle format," he said.
