Weakness is cited in HTTPS security protocol

A pair of security experts say they have discovered a vulnerability in a popular protocol used by financial sites to encrypt user activity. Known as Browser Exploit Against SSL/TLS, or BEAST, the security hole affects sites using Secure Hypertext Transfer Protocol by using the authentication cookie in a user's browser as a back door to spy on users. Experts say the exploit could affect secure sites such as PayPal and Gmail.
