Banks, e-businesses are focus of spate of Beta Bot activity, feds say

Federal law enforcement officials say they have seen an increase in the amount of so-called Beta Bot malware that disengages a computer's anti-virus protection, making it unable to fend off an attack. The FBI warned that financial institutions and e-commerce sites are both primary targets of Beta Bot activity and gave instructions on how to deal with the bug, which is often delivered in a disguised Windows message box.
