Google targets longevity with Calico moonshot

Google is being fairly non-specific about its new company Calico, but it appears to be a so-called moonshot health-and-longevity initiative inspired by Google's visionary Director of Engineering Ray Kurzweil. Former Genentech chief and chairman of Apple's board Arthur Levinson will head up the new company, commenting that "this was just so out of the box that I instantly got extremely excited about it."
