Medicaid savings sought at New York nursing homes

New York's Department of Health is encouraging nursing homes in the state to reduce Medicaid spending by taking advantage of new laws that allow them to become certified to provide assisted-living care. Currently, homes are only certified to provide a broader level of care, but laws passed in January allow them to provide less costly reduced services for healthier residents.
