San Diego mayor becomes backer of equal marriage rights

Out San Diego Councilwoman Toni Atkins praised the change of heart by Mayor Jerry Sanders, whose daughter is a lesbian, to back a council resolution in support of the marriage-rights case being considered by the California high court. "At the end of the day, Jerry's true nature came through," Atkins said. "I was absolutely moved by his statement at his press conference. I think he was pretty much telling people exactly who he is."
