Research: Weight loss holds benefits for obese kidney disease patients

Researchers say weight loss through exercise, diet or surgery could benefit obese kidney disease patients. A review of 13 studies showed that weight loss through diet and exercise helps reduce proteinuria and prevents kidney function from breaking down any further. Weight loss through surgery was found to help lower filtration rates to reduce these patients' disease risk.
