Capacity utilization increases among U.S. chlor-alkali producers

U.S. chlor-alkali manufacturers were operating at 93% capacity in August, up from July's 90%, as both chlorine gas and liquid caustic soda saw higher production volume, according to data from The Chlorine Institute. The expansion of production in August was driven by domestic demand for caustic soda and strong U.S. export figures for polyvinyl chloride, a supplier of caustic soda said.
