ExxonMobil Chemical to produce lubricant base stock at new site

ExxonMobil Chemical seeks to develop a lubricant-base-stock plant in Baytown, Texas. The facility, which is expected to be completed by 2013, is slated to produce 50,000 tons of high-viscosity metallocene polyalphaolefin annually. The desire "for greater energy efficiency, improved durability and extended drain intervals is creating demand for high-performance lubricants with advanced synthetic base stocks," said Habib Quazi, the company's synthetics global vice president.
