Google+ opens to the public, adds features

Google has ended its invitation-only Google+ test run, opening the network to everyone. The social network, which is estimated to have more than 25 million users, has been upgraded with a search capability and an enhanced "Hangouts" feature that allows users to hold video chats with contacts via smartphones and to broadcast their Hangout sessions for other users to see.
