Ivy Bridge processors to support faster DDR3 memory chips

At the Intel Developer Forum, the chipmaker revealed its forthcoming "Ivy Bridge" processors -- the successor to the Core i-series "Sandy Bridge" processors -- will support much faster DDR3 memory chips. While Sandy Bridge chips are specified to support DDR3 memory modules running at 1.3GHz to 2.3GHz, Ivy Bridge will support up to 2.8GHz DDR3 clock speed.
