Precast seen as cost-saver in Illinois construction project

Stone work is an important element of Masonic structures, and the designers of the Scottish Rite Valley of Chicago headquarters in Bloomingdale, Ill., wanted to incorporate as much of it as they could. However, to keep costs under control, they chose to use precast concrete in many areas. "We wanted to use precast to simulate limestone where it was logical," said Michael Behm, Leopardo Construction's senior vice president. "It is a cost saver."
