States to learn more about NCLB waivers this week

President Barack Obama and Education Secretary Arne Duncan are expected Friday to release more information about No Child Left Behind waivers, which, among other things, would eliminate the requirement that 100% of students be proficient in math and reading by 2014. States receiving waivers will be asked to adopt certain reforms, such as evaluating teachers based on students' test scores. The waivers are seen as the administration's attempt to rewrite the law after years of inaction by Congress.
