Check doctor's and surgical center's credentials before surgery

Plastic and cosmetic surgery patients should ensure both that their doctor is board-certified in plastic surgery and that the surgery center is accredited by the state health board, plastic surgeon Michael Cohen says. Surgeons should be operating at either a hospital or an accredited ambulatory surgical center, which are subject to the most regulations and oversight, Cohen said. "There's no such thing as minor surgery," Cohen said.
