The fat removed by liposuction and abdominoplasty does not regrow unless patients gain a significant amount of weight, a study published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery found. "Measurements do not support the concept of fat reaccumulation in treated or untreated areas of the body," the researchers wrote. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons called the study a rebuttal of a report in 2011 that said fat returns to parts of the body that were not treated.
