Medical studies praise the Mediterranean diet

Seniors who stuck with a Mediterranean diet, which is rich in plant foods and fish and low in meat and dairy products, while exercising and keeping their alcohol intake down, increased their longevity, according to one study coming out of the Netherlands. A separate study found that this type of diet also can help reduce cases of metabolic syndrome.
