Experts: Stem cell discoveries benefit human-disease studies

Breakthroughs in stem cell research could lead to treatments for human diseases and techniques to grow tissue and organs for transplant, said scientists at the World Stem Cell Summit in Madison, Wis. Researchers are moving beyond lab mice and fruit flies and are using human embryonic stem cells and induced pluripotent stem cells to gain a better understanding of disease biology.
