London commissions study for new airport on Thames River

London's mayor commissioned a feasibility study on building a new airport on a landfill in the Thames River estuary. The "island" airport would eventually replace Heathrow Airport, and would be built east of London. Critics of the plan call for building a third runway instead at Heathrow to ease congestion.
