Recurring pediatric croup linked to acid reflux

U.S. researchers say children with recurring croup also could have gastroesophageal reflux disease, which can trigger swelling with viral or respiratory infections. Endoscopies on 80 children with croup found 33% had narrowing of the airway and 19 of those children also had acid reflux. That subset was treated for acid reflux and 14 showed improvement in croup.
