World's birds fall prey to habitat loss

Continuing habitat loss is causing a decline in the population of the world's common bird species, according to a new survey by Birdlife International. Nearly half of Europe's common bird populations have fallen and the world's governments have failed to live up to promises to halt biodiversity loss by 2010, the group charged.
