Combo therapy helps reduce suicidal behaviors in children

Researchers said an early intervention program that includes psychotherapy and medication can help prevent future suicidal behavior in depressed adolescents who have attempted suicide. Improvement and remission rates for depression after using the combination therapy were comparable to those in nonsuicidal children with depression, study data showed.
